In the middle of the road, lying ownerless,

A photograph of two children

A girl, a boy, a dog

Another face, possibly a woman, torn out.

On the stranded street, a story,

Hidden in plain sight

Spilling secrets,

Choosing lover’s street over fine-dine.

Crockery over potted plants

Tie over colour

Meetings over travel plans

Discipline over heart

Death over P.T.M.

Amidst the noise and horns and rushing headlights

Blooms hope

Estranged invisible mother passing by.
